Last year…The Sound Architect East Sussex Young People’s Film Festival 2007

Sound Architect, in partnership with ‘Access All Areas’ and the East Sussex Arts Partnership, last year launched the first annual East Sussex Film Festival dedicated to showcasing the creative film work of young people in the county.

This first Festival was held at the De La Warr Pavilion, Bexhill-on-Sea, during the ‘Access All Areas’ event in October 2007. Budding movie-makers submitted their work to be premiered at this new countywide festival.

Schools, youth groups and organisations were all invited to send in their entries.  Seasoned ‘professionals’ and as well as first timers attended the master classes and workshops, which were FREE to all.

The Festival’s long term aim is to encourage as many young people as possible to pick up a camera and start creating.

This year …The Sound Architect Young People’s Film & Media Festival 2008

Calling all Young Film Makers. We are again inviting young film makers to submit their work.

There are no categories to limit the imagination, so films can be drama, documentary, dance animation or any form of visual media.  There will be two age categories ‘under 15 years’ and ‘15 to 19 years’. Films will be selected for screening based on creative spirit and evidence of co-operation within the group and/or with other organisations. Full details are given in the ‘FAQ’ and ‘Entry Form’.

Entries should be no more than 10 minutes long.

Films made between August 2006 and September 2008 and not previously submitted to Sound Architect East Sussex Young People’s Film Festival 2007 are eligible for entry.

Please submit all entries for the Sound Architect Young People’s Film & Media Festival 2008 by the closing date of 30th September 2008.

Late entries will be accepted only at the discretion of the organisers.

All accepted films will be viewed by a panel of media professionals and educationalists.

Each film maker will receive a Certificate of Screening and a professional review of the work.

*The work created during these three sessions will be brought together in a Celebration at the De La Warr Pavilion, Bexhill during the month of November. All participants will receive a copy of their work and an invitation to the viewing and exhibition.

NEW for 2008

Sound Architect will award an Exciting Prize to the Best Film, in the judges’ opinion, in each age category.

Website screening:Sound Architect will be organising a full day of Film and Media Activities devoted to young people with physical and learning disabilities. This day is planned to take place at the De La Warr Pavilion, Bexhill early in October. Watch this space for details. The ‘Hastings & St Leonards Observer’, our media Partner, will screen the 2 winning films on their website.
